A list of related work in music and sw from University of Forence.

This is the status of the Europe project with a little PhP script and still without UTF-8 formatting. Reidar Martin Svendsen is helping me with PhP.

My comments: I cannot really relate to these statements, since I never used Inter-rail, nor Erasmus. I am born in a truly european country. I did study, live and work in many different european countries, and traveled to many others (but I do not relate this to Erasmus or Inter-rail). I will hopefully work on a really Europeen project only in the near future. Though I use e-mail to exchange life-stories with my friends from "the past", I don't feel that I cultivate nostalgy ("the good old days"), I rather feel I am oriented towards the future. I may be mistaken?

Ai nostri tempi, si insomma quando avevamo 18-20 anni, l'europa era piu' lontana e piu' piccola di oggi. C'erano ancora confini di stato, bisognava cambiare i soldi da un paese all'altro, si sapeva in fondo poco degli altri paesi, poi tutta la zona est, era un universo a parte, considerato pericoloso e impenetrabile.
 
La comunita' europea (ti ricordi quando si parlava del MEC) era ancora un'idea vaga, a noi restavano l'eurofestival e giochi senza frontiere. I miei primi contatti con l'europa sono stati attraverso i tedeschi e olandesi che incontravo al mare e poi l'inter-rail, nell'81, che bello girare per le grandi citta' d'europa fino a Londra, quasi una terra promessa.
 
Il programma Erasmus ha dato la possibilita' a tanti di fare vere e proprie esperienze di vita all'estero, io me lo sono perso ma mi sarebbe piaciuto molto. Si e' scoperto che, con le dovute differenze, si studiano le stesse cose, sugli stessi libri a Pisa come a Kiev.
Come dici tu, in molti non sono piu' tornati indietro, forse cercavano solo un pretesto per andare altrove fare esperienze nuove.
La storia dei cervelli in fuga non l'ho mai capita bene, non saprei quanti sono andati via dall'Italia per la pura esigenza di poter realizzare le proprie ambizioni intellettuali/professionali, nel mio caso posso dire che e' stato un desiderio di cambiare aria.
 
In 20 anni il mondo e' cambiato, c'e' internet, l'email, i telefonini che ti seguono dappertutto, l'Europa e' diventata piu' grande geograficamente ma molto piu' piccola ed accessibile in termini di spostamenti, moneta unica, possibilita' di lavoro etc.
Ho amici che vivono in giro per il mondo, tu ancora di piu', capita di telefonare a qualcuno che vive a Milano e scoprire che sta rispondendo da Francoforte o ti manda un email da un hotel di Vienna.
 
Una cosa non e' cambiata, sin dai tempi di giochi senza frontiere, i ragazzi, ora adulti europei si sono sempre sentiti parte di un gruppo, con le dovute rivalita' ma sempre accomunati da uno stesso destino, non e' la stessa cosa con gli americani per esempio.  

Min generasjon møtte Europa når vi var på Inter-rail i åttiårene. Vi studerte ved Europeiske universiteter som Erasmusstudenter på nittitallet. Og i det nye årtusen pleier vi nostalgien ved hjelp av e-post og ved å jobbe på Europeiske prosjekter.

I hele åttitallet drømte jeg om å reise på Inter-rail, men det ble dessverre med drømmen. På nittitallet tok jeg hevn ved å kaste meg inn i nittitalllets globetrotter kultur bl.a. med den transsibirske jernbane. Kanskje nettopp derfor har jeg siden hatt en stor lengsel etter det Europa jeg leste om på åttitallet. Kanskje nostalgien pleies gjennom fransk rødvin og tysk pølse?

I have send (by e-mail) this sentence to some friends and ask for translation and comments. I have been thinking for a long time that Erasmus, e-mail, and Europe are important for my generation. I have even started a book on this topic. I believed I share this idea with my many people. I receive some answers, some comments. This is not what I was expecting. I log everything at my blog http://www.letiziajaccheri.splinder.com/ and I use mainly HTML to experiment with these words. The whole process is always available on the web and open to input (by comments). I may add some pictures and music if the project evolves in that directions. I work mostly with words as researcher and hobby writer.
